CNC Routers for Schools

Since 1986, Techno CNC has been perfecting the balance between low cost and high quality CNC routers.  The Atlas and Titan Series CNC routers are the culmination of over 30 years of design and field experience.  With many repeat customers, Techno continues to bring things up to the next level of performance.  Techno provides affordable CNC routers that handle production, require little maintenance, and typically give 15 to 20 years of service.

The Perfect CNC Routers for Schools and Universities

Schools and educational institutions prefer the Techno HD-II Table Top, Atlas, and Titan models primarily for their smaller size, economical pricing, and that they are easy to learn and operate by students and teachers.

The HD-II Table Top has an optional stand with casters and safety enclosure that make it safe for students to use, and it allows the machine to be wheeled through a 36” wide doorway from classroom to classroom.  This machine is ideal for smaller classrooms and workshops where students can learn all the concepts of CNC programming and operation by creating and routing engineered parts, signs, and plaques in wood, plastic, or light metals like aluminum.  Many schools enjoy making competitive CO2 racecars with their Techno CNC.

The Atlas and Titan machine come as a 4×4 or 4×8 size for larger format school workshops.  Students and teachers can process larger materials for more elaborate projects such as cabinets, furniture, and large signs. The HD-II Table Top, Atlas, and Titan machines have a hand held pendant with simple press button commands and settings, allowing for quick and simple operation.  The Titan model features automatic tool changing capability.

Techno emphasizes safety with the CNC machines.  Our technicians provide detailed and comprehensive training so that teachers and students learn the proper operation and programming of the CNC machine, tooling choice, and cutting strategies.

CNC Plasma Cutters for Schools

Techno also offers plasma CNC machines for schools and educational institutions.  If want to cut metal then the plasma CNC is a good choice.

The Venus model is the equivalent of our HD-II Table Top router as far as size and the inclusion of a safety enclosure, making it a safe and portable plasma for teachers and students to use.

The Phoenix offers a larger format for bigger shops.  It comes as a 4×4 and 4×8 size.  The Techno plasmas are equipped with automatic torch height control, ensuring a consistent cut.

The Hypertherm plasma torch options allow for cutting through metal up to 1 inch thick.

The HD II Tabletop Series

The HD-II Table top machine includes a 2HP HSD high frequency collet spindle, and a  vacuum t-slot table, which allows for mechanical clamping/vacuum hold down. The gantry height is 7-1/2″, which provides maximum flexibility to route sheet goods and larger taller parts. The machine drive motors are Nema 34 high powered brushless motors, thus providing the power to route any wood, plastic, foam, or non-ferrous metal. The controller is a stand-alone hand held controller. The buttons on the controller are all pre-programmed to perform certain machine instruction, thus making machine operations easy to learn and use.

The Titan Series

The Titan Series machine is all steel construction, providing the rigid foundation required for ultra-smooth routing results. The Titan machine includes a 12HP HSD automatic tool changer with 8-position tool rack, and a pneumatically operated dust collection hood that concentrates air flow at the cutter, which provides optimal dust collection performance. The multi-zone vacuum t-slot table is constructed from very hard Phenolic, which is very stable material, and holds tight tolerances for precision cutting. The Titan series is connected to a 10HP Rotary vane vacuum pump, which has very quiet operation (82db). For easy sheet alignment, (3) material pop-up pins are included and precisely placed to handle and align various size materials. The Titan series is powered by brushless drive motors, and is controlled via easy to use and learn hand held controller.

The Atlas Series

The Atlas Series machine is all steel construction providing the rigid foundation required for ultra-smooth routing results. The Atlas machine includes a 4HP HSD collet spindle. This CNC router model includes a dust hood that has concentrated air flow at the cutter, which provides optimal dust collection performance. The multi-zone vacuum t-slot table is constructed from very hard Phenolic, which is very stable material, and holds tight tolerances for precision cutting. The Atlas Series is connected to a 10HP Rotary vane vacuum pump, which has very quiet operation (82db). The Atlas series is powered by brushless drive motors, and is controlled via easy to use and learn hand held controller.

The Venus Series

The Venus series CNC Plasma is constructed using rigid materials delivering ultra-smooth plasma cutting results.. The Venus CNC Plasma can be equipped with a variety of plasma torch power supplies, each one capable of cutting different material thicknesses. The gantry height is 7-1/2”, which provides maximum flexibility to cut sheet goods and larger or taller welded assemblies. The Venus includes a stainless steel water table, which absorbs about 90% of the smoke created when cutting. The Venus plasma comes with a steel base and safety enclosure, which includes a top smoke evacuation port so it can be plumbed into an existing ventilation system if desired. The machine drive motors are powerful NEMA 34 sized high speed stepper motors, directly coupled to precision ball screws on all three axes. This provides optimum power, speed, and accuracy when cutting thin sheet metal or thicker plate stock. The plasma torch is cradled in an electronic, automatic, torch breakaway module, using a real time CNC torch height control system.  The Venus Plasma has a PC based industrial controller with a Windows 10 operating system and uses an Ethernet connection for high-speed communication and uninterrupted processing.

The Phoenix Series

The Phoenix series CNC Plasma machine is all steel constructed, providing a rigid foundation to support heavy plate loads, and delivers ultra-smooth plasma cutting results. The Phoenix Series CNC Plasma can be equipped with a variety of plasma torch power supplies, each one capable of cutting different material thicknesses. The gantry height is 7-1/2″, which provides maximum flexibility to cut sheet goods and larger or taller welded assemblies, if desired. CNC Routers in Schools: Customer Testimonials

CNC is absolutely a necessity for any high school, and we are so happy and proud to have invested in such quality equipment for our students to learn and prosper.

Mineola High School

We all love the Techno CNC router in class. The machines are by far one of the better routers I’ve ever used. They are all really fast! I have never been limited when using my Techno CNC router; the possibilities are endless, especially with wood. feel like the quality is superb for what they do… and especially for the price. Amazing results, and I would highly recommend this router.

Fresno City College

"Another benefit of the CNC machinery is having not just one, but two. We have double the capabilities for students to work hands-on with the routers. This advantage allows for students to have more one on one time with the routers, and allow for our workshops to flow smoother while teaching CAD/CAM, new techniques, cutting tips, and more. We are extremely pleased with how our routers run, and give us and our students the ability to carve something out of thicker hardwoods for example, like my rock textures – it makes the process truly unique. We can’t wait to begin working with our new 4th axis rotary table and testing different tool paths. We are seeing that as Universities and schools become more accustomed to using CNC technology, incorporating it into their everyday curriculums, the learning curve decreases and the technology becomes more accessible to our program participants.”

“We used to print these parts and have them sent to a local machine shop for finishing. Outsourcing the machining was time consuming and due to the abrasive makeup of the composite, the machine shops cut results were inconsistent and required allot of hand finishing when returned. Our teams had to sand and finish each machined part by hand which was extremely time consuming. With the addition of the new Techno machine this now allows us to keep the work in-house and requires virtually no hand finishing saving us allot of time and money. We are extremely pleased the new Techno Goliath machine will help stream line our manufacturing process with increased efficiency, quality and accuracy” – Wichita State University Managers
